Art Review: MIXED MESSAGES By Robert L. Pincus, Art Critic, September 21, 2006 VISUAL ARTS - WOOD CUTS In Tijuana's "100% Mexican Beef" exhibition, Ricardo Sanders' works are executed in high relief in wood, cut with a chain saw. Figures protrude from the surface of Ricardo Sanders' images. Some of them, as in "It's a Beautiful Day to Kill You", look as if they originate in some dark cartoon. |

In Tijuana, art venues try to 'fill a vacuum' By Sandra Dibble, Staff Writer, August 20, 2006 TIJUANA The setting is serene: white walls with white tile floors, rooms where the daylight filters softly and classical music whispers. Few people here know about this cloistered space on a quiet street in Colonia Davila where bold shapes and colors fairly leap from the walls. This is where Petra and Jens Herrmann have launched their quest to let the collecting world know about Baja California's growing circle of contemporary artists. "We're convinced that their work is at an international level, only that they're not yet recognized," said Jens Herrmann, a native of Germany who moved to Tijuana with his wife to open Galeria H&H. |

Over the past 18 months, gallery owners (and curators) Jens and Petra Herrmann have targeted and attracted several contemporary visual artists from Northwest Mexico. |

January 13, 2005 Art Critic Robert L. Pincus "Outside the lines - Tijuana, Carlsbad exhibitions are haunting and wildly eclectic". "Art without dogma" is a thought-provoking phrase. It's also the title of an exhibition at Tijuana's Galeria H&H, which means to give eclecticism a good name. Gallery owners (and curators) Petra and Jens Herrmann make a case for open minds and eyes, for being equally receptive to tradition-minded and freewheeling work. |

October 14, 2005 Art Critic Robert L. Pincus "Maximiliano Lizárraga's works capture a world beyond the reach of nature". Robert L. Pincus describes Galería H&H as a serious showcase for Tijuana artists. |

September 2002 "The Word's Most Creative Cities", Tijuana among them. "Like Ruanova's paintings, which draw on videogame imagery, much of Tijuana's art is inspired by technology... Artists and producers abroad are taking a growing interest in Tijuana." |
